Hey guys :) just thought I'd check in to let ya know how the weeks going. I'm sitting in class at the moment posting this off my phone, so please excuse the lack of grammar.
My week has been great! I've completed all my exercise (not quite on the 1000 star jumps and 200 lunges, but that's my plan tonight). I'm so happy to say that I have cut over 3 mins off my circuit time and thought I was well on my way to winning the first weeks mini challenge and getting me a 20 massage. Alas, not to be. Damn mr papa patch managed to knock 5 mins off his time!! Damn him. But well done at the same time, quite an accomplishment.
Food has been great too. Have stuck exactly to the program as required. Had 2 treat meals (which were stated that I have); one being some short bread biscuits and a milo for morning tea one day and then burger fuel yesterday for lunch. And man it tasted good!!
I had a weigh in on Monday at weight watchers (which was only 5/7 of my first week but just happened to be how it worked) and I had lost 2 kgs!! So excited. It's a good indication to what the scales might say tomorrow morning at official weigh in. I'm super excited!!
Will post again tomorrow, see ya then! X
Ps - thought id share this gorgeous photo of my little man playing on his drum. He's growing up so fast!!

so far so good....
half way through week 1 and im happy with how its going :)
eating has been great. I have had my treat morning tea (4x shortbread biscuits and a milo), but am yet to have my treat dinner. i cant decide what i want to have!!!
exercise has also been going well. i am meant to have a rest day tomorrow, but swapped it for the circuit day i was supposed to do yesterday as i was running on 4 hours sleep (thank you power-chucking baby patch) so i DID NOT have energy to go to the gym. it was hard enough getting through uni for the day. but ill be up first thing tomorrow and be at the gym to go hard out on my circuit. because, you see, DP and i have added another little wager into our 6 week adventure. as well as who loses the highest percentage of fat, we have decided to have weekly competitions. each week when we go and see our trainer, she gives us a new circuit for the week that we run through with her (and she times us) and then we have to complete it twice more before we see her again a week later. when we go through it twice more we have to time ourselves to try and improve our time and push ourselves harder. therefore, the weekly winner will be the person who improves their time the most. the reward this week will be a 20 min massage, ooh so good!
so, my question to all my readers is this: whats you suggestion for future week competition rewards?? either comment below or on my FB page (link to the left <-------------------------)

And the 6 weeks begins....
So I had my appt with my personal trainer this morning (it was early, but i managed!). It all went well. First we did a fitness test (run for as long as you can on the treadmill). I probably could have gone for longer but I started getting really sore legs (shin splint style pain). I usually get it when i run on a treadmill (would prefer to be outside) and also think it may be due to sore legs from new netball shoes, as I also got the pain at netball training last night.
Next up we went through my program for the week. It's a circuit style program using kettlebells, medicine balls and some jumping up onto benches (the worst thing ever!!). I have to go through the circuit 3 times non stop, and time myself. Each session I have to aim to get faster and I have to do it twice more before I see her next wednesday.
I've done all the exercises before so getting them were no problem. Doing all of them in a row non-stop 3x was hard work but I got there in a time of 19.49. watch this space for an improvement!!
While I was there she also gave me my eating plan which looks pretty good :) For each meal I'm given 3 or 4 options as to what I can have and am allowed 2 cheat meals a week (where she said I can have WHATEVER i want!). theres a few things that we dont have in our cupboards so Im about to do some online shopping to stock up, then theres no excuses!!
The last thing she gave me was some homework for the week, and im going to challenge all my readers out there to do it with me! Week 1's homework is 1000 star jumps and 200 backward lunges, done at any stage during the week. so standing waiting for dinner to cook, do 20 star jumps. during the ad breaks on tv, 50 star jumps. add them up and let me know how you are going! ill be keeping a tally on my fb page, so make sure you post yours their as well, lets motivate each other!
i came across this pic and thought it appropriate for day 1 :)
i hope everyone is having a good week so far xx

a little scared....
hey guys,
so the sickness fairy has FINALLY left our house! all that is left is a little sniffle in baby patch's nose, but otherwise we are definitely nearing the top of the hill.
because it has been over 6 weeks since any kind of movement on the scales, i have decided that my arse needs a real good kicking. and the boot i have chosen comes in the form of a fabulous personal trainer. Sheta, at Evolve Personal Training, is a no-nonsense trainer that works hard, and expects the same from her clients. She's competed in 'figure' competitions and theres not much she doesnt know about the world of fitness. Anyone in NZ (or anywhere really!) can check out her webpage here. She does online training too, so you dont have to be in Hamilton to take advantage of her services. i used to train with sheta about 7 years ago, before i got slack and lazy haha. she knows me well, and (im not sure if this is a good thing) knows what im capable of. im kinda scared!
Anyway the next 6 weeks (starting Wednesday; its monday now) will contain the following (info taken from shetas website):
Forget wasting time with moving around the gym from machine to machine and learn functional training workouts - that are designed to be completed in 30 minutes or less! You will be taken through a new exciting routine each week.... and you will be timed! Your goal is to equal or better your time each week. Nutrition is also taken care of with this programme.
Week 1: Fitness test, 'before photos', full body measure (includes body fat with caliper measures), go through first week programme + cardio/goal set for next week.
Week 2: Overview of last week. Weigh in. Go through programme + cardio/goal set for next week
Week 3: Overview of last week, full body measure (includes body fat with caliper measures), go through programme programme + cardio/goal set for next week.
Week 4: Overview of last week. Weigh in. Go through programme + cardio/goal set for next week
Week 5: Overview of last week, full body measure (includes body fat with caliper measures), go through programme programme + cardio/goal set for next week.
Week 6: Overview of last week. Weigh in. Go through programme + cardio/goal set for next week
End Week 6: Repeat fitness test, 'after photos', full body measure (includes body fat with caliper measures), overview of programme.

its going to be a full on 6 weeks. the part that im most worried about is the eating. I just love food. I wish i could think of it as a fuel thing, but i just LOVE the taste of it.
so.....i have come up with a plan. Papa patch will be doing it with me too (hehe). this way there will be NO bad food in the house, and we can drag each other out the door to do the exercise. AND we have put a wager on it. for who can lose the most body fat %. if he wins, then i have to give him a hour long massage (pfft, who can be bothered doing that!), and if i win then he has to go and get a full wax. just coz i want him to feel the pain that us females feel often. mean? probably. but guys just dont get the lengths we go to for them!!
so the countdown is on. AF is due tomorrow, so hopefully she gets here, does her thing and goes away really quick and it doesnt get in the way of a fabulous start on wednesday!
watch this space people!! there is about to be much more space, and much less ME!
ooh and i found this pic, which i love and thought i would share :)

BLAH!!
sometimes life is so unfair. id finally worked up to getting back into this game, and i get sick!! freaking typical. kinda reminds me of that song by alanix morrisette, ironic. "its like meeting the man of your dreams, then meeting his beautiful wife" or the man who was afraid to fly:
after finally recovering from my broken (well they felt that way!) muscles from my workout on monday, i hauled myself back into the gym on thursday to a pump class. just took it easy with lighter weights, just to get my blood pumping again and to ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING! then 9pm on thursday, bam!! i start throwing up. hence the start of a lovely tummy bug that had me up every hour throughout the night wrapped around the toilet bowl. ARE YOU SERIOUS!
ofcourse, i also had baby patch to deal with at the same time as he was still getting over the end of his tummy bug plus some teething thrown in there for good measure (you will be pleased to know that tooth has FINALLY cut through).
so due to serious lack of sleep and still being sick, papa patch stays home from work to look after us both. and around lunch time HE starts feeling ill. ooh what a household!! so Friday lunchtime, we are all wrapped up on the couch in front of the TV, good way to get fit huh! well atleast we werent eating crap at the same time, infact we werent eating anything! which is not much better really.
so here i am. feeling reasonably good again, not totally recovered but almost there. i have my first game of netball tomorrow so working out tomorrow is compulsory. fingers crossed i last! and eating will be back on track.
also uni starts again tomorrow, yahoo!! not really, but its the beginning of the end so gotta be happy about that :)
